We all know how much I love mug cakes! With my chocolate cake mug cake, red velvet mug cake, & apple pie mug cake!

I like them for 2 reasons, the first being that they are super easy and quick to make ( Very convenient when you want a dessert this second and don’t have the time or energy to bake up a whole story!). But the second reason is that single serving desserts are really great when it comes to portion control!! You know, when you bake that whole batch of cookies, or entire cake and have zero self control and end up eating it all? This is perfect for people who are struggling with portion control, but still looking for a delicious vanilla mug cake.

The Most Delicious Cookie Dough Mug Cake

This mug cake honestly ticks all the boxes! Since we all know that I try aim for some type of resistance training 3-4 times a week, I am always looking for new and creative ways to add protein. I am and have always been an advocate for eating whole food protein sources, but love to use protein powder when baking! It makes a delicious sweet option that you can literally eat your cake and still get an added protein boost.

This protein mug cake is high fiber, high protein, sugar free & has no flour!! It’s so funny because whenever I tell people that my healthy alternatives often have no flour or sugar- they look at me like I am an alien! Trust me when I say, this is better than any traditional vanilla cake, and doesn’t need all those unnecessary extras!

Microwavable Mug Cake

This recipe can be made by mixing ingredients in a oven proof mug, and then microwaved in 30 second intervals for 60 second until light and fluffy. It may depend on your oven, but mine comes out perfect at exactly 60 seconds, You may need to adjust your time accordingly

How To Make A Protein Vanilla Mug Cake In The Oven

If you don’t have a microwave ( funny story, I actually don’t and have to go to a friends every time I need to check a microwavable recipe)! You can make this vanilla mug cake recipe in the oven and it honestly comes out amazingly!!

To make your protein vanilla mug cake in the oven, simply follow the same instructions but bake it in the oven instead of microwaving it! I do it at 180 degrees celsius for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Plot twist…. YOU CAN MAKE THIS PROTEIN VANILLA MUG CAKE RECIPE IN THE AIR FRYER as well!!!

We all know how much I love and adore my air fryer, and it honestly works a dream. This air fryer mug cake follows similar instructions to making it in the oven, but you place it in the air fryer at 180 degrees celsius for 12-15 mins!

How Do You Make The Protein Cookie Dough Vanilla Mug Cake

                                                                               Ingredients:

Oat flour: I make my own by blending oats in a high speed blender to make a flour consistency.

Protein powder: Pea protein powder works best! But rice protein and other plant based proteins also work well. Whey protein is not recommended (gives a gummy texture) but casein works well too!

Granulated sweetener of choice: I used a calorie free monk fruit sweetener, but any granulated sugar could work.

Baking powder:Essential to get your mug cake to rise

Milk of choice: I used almond, but you can use any!

Chocolate chips : Use your favourite chocolate chips of choice

Method:

Grease a microwave safe bowl or mug of choice with some oil spray. Add all ingredients above and mix well

Chocolate coconut: Top your mug cake off with a sprinkle of desiccated coconut
