This easy recipe uses a tortilla of choice as the outer crust, which not only saves time but is also delicious. Furthermore, it is a great source of fiber and can be refined sugar free if desired.

Growing up, we hardly ever ate Mcdonalds. It was only until i went to college, that I tried my first ever McDonalds apple pie. Moreover it is so different to the other apple pies that I had previously tried. It almost came in this little pocket, that I could easily bite into as opposed to having a full on apple pie slice. Needless to say, it was absolutely delicious. However, the feeling after was not. Because it’s deep fried and loaded with sugar, I found myself feeling sluggish and bloated after eating it.

This apple pie is just as good, but without all the added sugar and unnecessary oil. Give it a try if you’re an apple pie lover!

How to make the air fryer apple pie ? 


Tortilla: I used a medium sized high fiber tortilla wrap. You could use any tortilla of choice, and keep it gluten free if you prefer

Apples: Any apples of choice

Arrowroot or cornstarch: to thicken the mixture

Granulated sweetener of choice: I used monk fruit

Cinnamon & vanilla: for all that flavor

Egg white wash: for the optional glazing



 Slice your apples and allow them to simmer in a pot on low heat with your water, optional granulated sweetener of choice, cinnamon & arrowroot. 


Cooking apples for the apple pie


Take your tortilla wrap and place around 2 tablespoons of the filling in the middle. Fold it to make a little parcel. 

Making apple pie


Dunk in your egg white wash and dust in some optional granulated sweetener of choice and cinnamon. Bake in your airfryer and enjoy!

For the apple pie filling

For the crust

  • 6 Medium sized tortillas (44g per wrap)

For the optional dusting


  • Place all ingredients in a pot for the apple pie filling and allow it to simmer on a low to medium heat until mixture thickens and apples are soft.
  • Take a tortilla and place 2 tablespoons of the apple pie filling in the middle. Tuck the ends and roll the tortilla. If the sides wont stick you may need to dab your tortilla ends with some egg white wash or milk.
  • If you'll be using the optional dusting, brush your filled tortillas with your egg white wash and sprinkle 1 tsp of your cinnamon/ sweetener mixture over it.
  • Bake in your airfryer or oven at 180C for 6-8 minutes until golden and crispy!
